Willerby has pledged to support Hull Animal Welfare Trust and Andy’s Man Club as part of its Charity of the Year initiative for 2020.
Each year we work alongside our chosen charities as part of ongoing work to give back to the local community, and this time we have decided to support two charities that were close to our employees' hearts.
Over 20 charities were submitted for Charity of the Year by our employees, with Hull Animal Welfare Trust and Andy’s Man Club both making the final shortlist in the employee vote.
Hull Animal Welfare Trust was chosen by staff, followed very closely by Andy’s Man Club. As part of our ‘Time To Change’ pledge, which aims to continually support people with mental health issues, we decided to support a second charity this year - Andy’s Man Club.
Holly Barker, Centre Manager for the Hull Animal Welfare Trust, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Willerby has chosen us as its Charity of the Year for 2020. With its help, this year we will be able to help even more abandoned and unwanted animals in the Hull area.
“After re-homing over 30,000 animals since the doors of the trust first opened in 1982, one thing has never changed - the passion we have for animal welfare, meaning we will always have our doors open 365 days a year.
“With Willerby’s support, we will be able to invest in our shelters, veterinary and behavioural care, plus our neutering and education programmes to ensure we are providing the best possible care to the animals with us.”
Andy’s Man Club, said: “We are honoured that Willerby has chosen to support us as its Charity of the Year. Mental health amongst men isn’t often widely discussed and we want to help end this.
“Willerby’s support will help us to raise even more awareness and get men to open up about their mental health. We hope, with its support, to help even more in the region.”
Willerby’s Finance Director, Sue Allan, added: “It’s the first time that we’ve decided to work with two charities. Working with a charity that is close to the hearts of our employees is very important to us, which is why we also pledge to help Andy’s Man Club too. The work it does to raise awareness of mental health is fantastic and we’re committed to supporting its journey.
“As the new year starts, we’ll be running various fundraising initiatives, from family fun days to sponsored sporting challenges and more.
“We’re also really proud to be helping the Hull Animal Welfare Trust, to continue its incredible work in the region too.”
