Team Talk – Amanda Goodwin

In this month’s Willerby Team Talk chat we speak to Quality Inspector Amanda Goodwin. Amanda joined the Willerby family 16 years ago as a Cleaning Operative, a role which she held for 15 years. She took up her current role in February 2022.

Q. Tell us about your job and what it involves.

A. Working with a snagger, I go into each holiday home during production to look for any faults, gaps or chips, making sure everything is of the highest quality and meets Willerby’s gold standard. The snagger makes any repairs at that point and we record the data on an app which is reviewed by senior managers in the team. At least four Quality Inspectors check every holiday home before it goes off to its final destination. Willerby’s Quality Inspectors are mostly female, perhaps because women have a better eye for detail! You look at your own home and compare it to what you’re inspecting because you want it to be perfect.

Q. What’s the best thing about your job?

A. Overcoming any problems and finding solutions, as well as working together as a team. My dad was a Quality Inspector and I wanted a change of direction, so I’ve followed in his footsteps.

Q. What does being part of the Willerby team mean to you?

A. It means a lot because I’ve been here for so many years and worked on lots of different projects at almost every site. When someone asks me where I work I feel proud because most of my family have a connection to Willerby. My dad, uncle, brother and partner all work or have worked at Willerby.

Q. If you didn’t work for Willerby and you could do any job in the world, what would it be?

A. I’m really happy where I am but I’d be a police officer if I didn’t work here because you serve the community, look out for others and you’re helpful. I love teamwork, communication and supporting others.

Q. What’s your guilty pleasure?

A. My best guilty pleasure is on a Friday when I have down time with family and friends, going out for food and drinks. We finish early and it’s something we all look forward to. I don’t know many workplaces which offer that and we have every weekend off.
