Willerby team talk – Chris Gregor
07 July 2022This month’s team talk chat features cabinet maker Chris Gregor, who joined Willerby in November 2021 and works in the cab shop.
Q. Tell us about your job and what it involves.
A. I’ve been a joiner for 36 years. The materials come to me, I build the furniture and it’s fitted into the holiday homes by the furnishers. I make everything from seats to wardrobes and every job has a timeframe allocated to it.
Q. What’s the best thing about your job?
A. I used to have my own caravan company and joinery business, but I prefer my current role for this stage of my life. The best thing is the lads I work with because they’re all good fun. Our working environment is superb and I’m still learning all the time. Willerby really looks after us.
Q. What does being part of the Willerby team mean to you?
A. Everything. It’s a big company, there’s good job security and the holiday home industry is booming. I really enjoy being part of the team and the team I work in is great. We all work really hard.
Q. If you didn’t work for Willerby and you could do any job in the world, what would it be?
A. I’ve been a joiner since I left school at 16 but I’d like to be Prime Minster. I think I could do a better job!
Q. What’s your guilty pleasure?
A. I love going away in my camper van and hiking. I travel all over England and Ellerburn in Dalby Forest, North Yorkshire, is my favourite place. I love being outdoors and climbed Mount Triglav in the Slovenian Alps with a friend two years ago. We completed it over a week and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.
