Things to do this Valentine’s Day
17 January 2019From falconry and steam railways to a walk on the beach and a trip to the pub, there’s plenty to do across the UK this Valentine’s Day. The best of it? It can all be close to your Willerby holiday home and a scenic holiday park, so you can make a weekend of it.
Whether you already own a holiday home, are exploring parks to buy on or are simply renting for a holiday, there are plenty of places to visit and things to try this February.
Driving experience in the East Midlands
If you and your partner fancy thrill seeking this February then look no further than an experience day at Silverstone, Northamptonshire. The legendary circuit gives you the chance to try your hand at both supercar and F1 driving. The track is within a half hour drive time of four holiday parks; Cosgrove Park, Billing Aquadrome, Cogenhoe Mill Holiday Park and Overstone Lakes Caravan Park.
Hot air balloons in Yorkshire
Ever thought of taking to the skies for Valentine’s Day and literally being on cloud nine? Adventure Balloons is the longest running passenger balloon ride company and you can take off from a range of locations including York Racecourse. Prices start from £119 and champagne can be included with your balloon flight package. Yorkshire is also the perfect place to stay over with a huge choice of holiday parks in close proximity. These include Moor End Farm, Poplar Farm Caravan Park, Chestnut Farm Caravan Park and Home Farm.
Steam railways in the South West
If you want to visit the wonderful sights of Cornwall you could spend the evening on board the Wenford and Bodmin Steam Railway. Departing from Bodmin station, it is hosting a special Valentine’s Day deal which includes a luxury dining experience on the Cornish Belle. You’ll spend the evening on the 1950s train in first class for a two hour, 13-mile journey through the Cornish countryside. Tickets are £44.50 per person including a three-course meal. Once you’ve disembarked, head to Eden Valley Holiday Park, Hoburne Doublebois or Little Dinham Woodland Caravan Park.
Whiskey distilleries in Scotland
Heading out towards the Scottish Highlands and near Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and Loch Lomond National Park, there are two Whiskey distilleries to explore in Scotland just an hour apart. You can choose from Glengoyne Distillery or Deanston Distillery or there are local companies that offer tours covering both. From here, you have Trossachs Holiday Park, Campsie Glen Holiday Park, Callander Woods Holiday Park or Keltie Bridge Caravan Park for overnight stays. If you’re heading back down south from here too you could pop into our Scotland showground in Crossford, Lanarkshire, if you’ve been inspired to look at buying your very own holiday home or want to upgrade an existing one.
Falconry in the South East
Try your hand at Falconry this February at the leading Imperial Bird of Prey Academy in Essex. Those in London can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and be in Billericay in just an hour by train or 90 minutes by car. The academy has falconry experience sessions that last from one hour to a full day and it’s located in Barleylands Craft Village, so you can do a spot of shopping too. When you’re ready to call it a day, you’re only a 25-minute drive from Thorney Bay Park. This park is based in Canvey Island on the Thames Estuary too, so you can spend the next day walking the sea front.
Award winning beaches in Wales
Fancy some sea air this Valentine’s? Wales has all the beaches you need. Voted one of Wales’ best is Llanbedrog Beach in Gwynedd which is also within a short drive of Portmeirion and Porthmadog, so you can tick plenty of places off the bucket list in just one weekend. The National Trust beach lies on the Pwlehelli coast neighbouring the likes of Abersoch and Snowdonia National Park, so you have a choice of holiday parks. The nearest are Tal-y-Fan Holiday Park, Hendre Caravan Park, The Warren Holiday Park and Castellmarch Caravan Park.
The famous bath spa in the South West
A hugely popular couple’s retreat is the Thermae Bath Spa next to the historical Roman Baths attraction and museum. The day spa is perfect if you’re looking for a day of relaxation. Once your day of pampering is complete, Bath Mill Lodge Retreat is just 15 minutes away in car or taxi where you can spend the evening in a luxury lodge. This five star haven is also nestled in an area of national beauty. Brokerswood Country Park and Cheddar Woods Resort and Spa are also nearby.
