The Willerby festival at the Great Caravan, Motorhome, and Holiday Home Show, Harrogate 2024

Show Soundbites - What Did People Really Think?

23 September 2024

As the sun shone on the opening day of the Great Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Show in Harrogate, we chatted to visitors to get their thoughts on the industry’s biggest showpiece.

With more than 20 of our models on show, and an exclusive area for our Owners Club members to relax and unwind, we had a leading presence at the Great Yorkshire Showground.

Here, showgoers shared their thoughts on Willerby, the show and the Great British staycation lifestyle.

Alan and Hazel Cartledge

We own and run the Glenfinart Caravan Park in Ardentinny, near Glasgow. We’ve come down to the show to look at some of the holiday homes which are on the market at the moment, including those from Willerby.

From what we’ve seen in the Willerby village, the latest homes look fantastic. There’s some brilliant layouts and designs, and the Malton Elite has a great lounge space and a spacious bedroom which you don’t always see.

Having that extra space is really important, and we’re impressed with the décor and the interior. I think the Malton Elite will be a big success on holiday parks. Willerby has knocked it out of the park.

John and Denise Howden

John and Denise Howden came down to the Harrogate Show from Cumbria. Despite initially coming to look at motorhomes, they were left reconsidering their options after being blown away by the Willerby models.

Denise said: “We used to have a static caravan, but sold it three years ago. We’ve since been thinking about a motorhome, which was the primary reason for visiting today. But we’ve been looking around the Willerby lodges and now find ourselves considering a static again.

Space tends to be what attracts us to Willerby’s homes. There’s six of us, and three dogs, so we need the space in the kitchen and living area to be able to be together. We’ve particularly had our eye on the Malton Elite.

The presentation of the holiday homes is absolutely spot on. We’ve looked at The Dorchester in the past, so today was a good opportunity to come and see some of the other models Willerby have.

The inside of the homes are lovely, and very different to what a lot of people would think the inside of a static caravan would look like.

We’ve always enjoyed holidaying in the UK, and getting out and about and exploring different places. Of course, the weather is important, but if the sun is shining, there’s no better place to be!

Lynn and Graham Haggath

Lynn and Graham Haggath own a Willerby holiday home at a park in Ripon, North Yorkshire. The couple visited the show with friends Fiona and Ken Shail.

Lynn said: “Our Willerby is about an hour away from where we live, and it’s perfect. It means we can go at the drop of a hat if the weather forecast is looking good, and it’s just so easy and hassle free.

If you just want to go for a day, you can do that, or you can go for longer. We do lots of walking and there’s some great pubs just a short distance away from the holiday home.

We’re having a great day at the show. There’s so much to see, and it gives you some ideas for what we could do with our own Willerby in the future.

Paul and Jeanette Sheard

We’ve had a Willerby Sheraton for seven years at Hornsea Leisure Park, and enjoy spending as much time on the Yorkshire coast as we can.

We came to the show last year when it was here for the first time in Harrogate, and we loved it, so we thought we’d come again! Before that, we used to go to The Lawns Show in Cottingham.

Coming to the show is a great way of seeing what we like and what we don’t like – whether it’s décor and style, or the layout of the homes.

“We’ve been Willerby Owners Club members for seven years. We’ve always found the quality of Willerby’s homes to be very good compared to some of the other manufacturers you see on the market. You know with a Willerby you’re getting a well-built home.

Adam Rahman

Adam Rahman visited the show with his family, and said: “This is the first time we’ve been. We’ve been interested in getting a holiday home, and thought we’d come and have a look around and see what’s available.

It would be a great way to spend more time away with the family, especially now we’ve got a little boy. The inside of the homes are really nice, and features like the walk-in wardrobe are particularly impressive.

Willerby has a really good variety of homes, in all sizes and layouts. It’s given us something to think about!

The show has been great. Lots to see and it helps when the sun is shining like it has been today!
