Willerby Team Talk – James Hall
25 June 2024In this month’s Willerby Team Talk we speak to Graduate Trainee Accountant James Hall.
James joined us in April 2021 after completing a degree in accounting and business management at the University of Hull. He’s now working towards becoming a fully qualified Chartered Accountant.
Q. Tell us about your job and what it involves.
A. I currently work in the commercial finance team but have spent time working in operations finance during my graduate programme too. Along with two colleagues, I analyse values, overheads and invoices, and we monitorhow the company is performing financially.
Q. What’s the best thing about your job?
A. Every day is completely different. I work closely with the team to overcome hurdles and reach positive conclusions. We all have a similar way of approaching things and the professional chemistry we have means we work well together.
Q. What does being part of the Willerby team mean to you?
A. I’m proud to work for Willerby. It’s satisfying to identify and make improvements, working with people across the wider business. I like collaborating with the IT, customer care and the sales team. We support each other in our roles and ensure the business benefits from our collaborative working .
Q. If you didn’t work for Willerby and you could do any job in the world, what would it be?
A. It would have to be something to do with sport, especially football. I support Hull City and have always dreamed about playing or coaching professionally.
Q. What’s your guilty pleasure?
A. I really like seventies and eighties music. I’m so interested in it, my knowledge is good and I always listen to music of all genres from those eras. My dad led me down this path because he loves it too. If you ask anyone in the office, they’ll say I have a weird taste in music for my age – I’m only 26!
