‘We’re so pleased with our Willerby – it’s home from home and we love the freedom’

We thoroughly enjoy chatting to our Willerby Owners Club members and this month it’s the turn of retired couple Hilary and Kev Slator, from Snaith, near Goole.

They own their two bedroom Willerby Avonmore at South Cliff Holiday Park in Bridlington and said they’ve never looked back since making it their home away from home.

Tell us about your Willerby and why you love it so much.

Within two hours, we can decide to go, empty the contents of the fridge into bags and be in Bridlington ready to relax. It’s home from home, very easy to maintain, well equipped and the storage is phenomenal.
We have a floor to ceiling window at the front and we get sunshine on the balcony from morning until night. We have a kitchen, dining room and living room, which is all open plan, a large media unit, two bedrooms, a bathroom and an en-suite from the master bedroom. We love it.

Why did you choose your specific model and how long have you been part of the Willerby family?

We bought our holiday home in June 2018. We could have bought the same model 3ft shorter, but we went for another 3ft in the lounge area and now we have that advantage. We spend most of our time in our living area and the Avonmore is perfect for that. It’s just us most of the time, but there’s space for our family when they want to visit.

What are the best things about owning a holiday home?

We can make a quick decision and leave almost straight away. We’re not tied to whenever we want to go. If we want to go at 11pm, or early in a morning and take our breakfast, we can. It’s very convenient and we love having that freedom.

What would you say to other people thinking about buying a holiday home?

Have a budget in mind and plan it. It’s nice to talk to someone who has already bought a holiday home. We’re so pleased we’ve done it and we’re delighted with our decision.

Describe your holiday park and why it’s such a great place to stay.

The holiday park is run by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the location is superb, directly behind the park and ride car park on the cliff top at the south side of Bridlington. The beach has beautiful golden sand and it’s a quiet, friendly place. It’s a lovely walk into Bridlington and we have a lot of friends and nice neighbours who look out for each other on the park. The staff are so helpful and there’s a clubhouse, a fish and chip shop, a convenience store and a launderette.

What do you most value and enjoy from being a member of the Willerby Owners Club?

We get the newsletters and there are some nice tips and information in there, as well as offers on tickets to caravan shows. We really like the idea of the Owners Club. The service we’ve had from Willerby has been absolutely great.
